Without Bobby, Indiana would have never been much in hoops & most likely never will be again. Bobby' players were rewarded for their misery by getting to the finals after Knight was gone. Indiana basketball is done now. And so is Mike Davis.

What happened General was Knight did not keep up with todays game, he is still living in the early 80's and his rough house approach scared away great players with the new generation type athlete and the program went down, put in a 2000 type coach and Indiana will be back, Davis made them very competitve and remember he almost one the tournament last year. The game has passed Knight by.
Bob has done very well with the Red Raiders. He has turned them into a very good program from nothing. The Big 12 is very tough as you know. Bobby scared off Roy Williams. Roy did not want to deal with Bobby & the Red Raiders over the next few seasons. He would rather try Bobby's student Mike @ Duke. He was smart to leave the Big 12.
I agree too some extent that the game has moved pass Bob, but in his defense it is because he will not give up the old fundamentals of the game. Screen and roll, pass the ball, play Defense, move your feet, cut, etc.... Bobby likes motion & its fun to watch & will win games forever.
Ncaa is nowadays run and shoot a 3. Bobby doesnt like that.
As for the discipline aspect, he demands performance & every kid that goes to play for bobby knows this. If he choked the kid, or slapped the kid, then so be it. I bet he gave that kid alot of great lessons about life too.
